Mrs Mae Hazel "Banks" Roseborough

Mae Roseborough Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Russell-McCutchen Funeral Home on Mar. 7, 2026.
Mae Hazel (Banks) Roseborough was born on September 11, 1947 to the late Mr. Heyward Banks, Sr. and Mrs. Parrie Nease Goodwin Banks in Newberry South Carolina. Hazel peacefully earned her wings and entered into eternal rest with our Heavenly Father March 4, 2026 at the MUSC Hospital in Columbia, SC.

She was educated in Fairfield County, and a 1965 graduate of Fairfield Highschool where she established many friendships which continued throughout her lifetime.

After graduation, she married the love of her life. From this 60 plus years blessed union 2 girls and 2 boys were born.

She was predeceased by her mother, Parrie Nease, her father Heyward Sr., and her sister Minnie Ruth Gaither.

Hazel loved working with the flowers in her yard, helping those in need and most importantly being an active part of her church community. As life progressed, she literally re-invented herself career-wise three times from cosmetology to distribution management to lastly educator. Her last and favorite career was in the Fairfield School System because she loved working with children. She was famously known for her In-School Suspension- "Opportunity Room". For those who had the privilege to visit her room, knew about standing on the imaginary line to think about your actions. Her natural and authentic way to inspire those around her to be their best was so evident whenever she was out-and-about in the community. There would be many hugs and "thank you Mrs. Roseborough" and always a story.

She remained steadfast in her faith throughout her courageous journey. She loved deeply her devoted husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her unwavering nurturing and tenderness is her hallmark legacy not only to her family, but to anyone who came into her life.

Hazel leaves to cherish her beautiful memories: her devoted husband, Willie Roseborough, Jr.; her daughters Veronica (Vince) Taylor, Alexis (Dwayne) Jenkins; her sons Michael (Myra) Roseborough, Kevin (Lisa) Roseborough. She leaves her brother Heyward (Mary Lou) Banks, Jr.; She also leaves 5 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, 3 great-granddaughters and 1 great-grandson. She also leaves nieces and nephews. She leaves also her sister in-laws: Josephine McConnell, Maggie (Leslie) Mobley and Delois Roseborough. And her very special friend Janie Hughes Davis.

She loved the Lord and lived a life of grace. She was a phenomenal woman and Proverbs 31 is her crown. Her presence will be missed dearly, and we know she has heard, "Well done my good and faithful servant".

A special thanks to family, friends and to the South Carolina Oncology Team for the support throughout her journey.
