Magdalena “Lena” Catalano, 82, of Eustis, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2025. Born in Jacksonville, Florida, she moved to Eustis in 1967 from Gainesville, Florida. Magdalena was a member of St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church, Eustis. She is survived by her 2 sons, Dominic Catalano, Mount Dora, FL, Salvatore Catalano, Deland, FL; 4 daughters, Monica Kinnebrew, Hawkinsville, GA, Angela Kirkpatrick, Eustis, FL, Jessica Gramling, Monticello, FL, Erica Catalano, Fredericksburg, VA; brother, Frank Giglia, Jr., Lakeland, FL; 2 sisters, Brenda J. Bryan, Lakeland, FL, Rose Marie Mock, Auburndale, FL; 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Frederick J. Catalano. Lena was a devoted mother and abuela, who always made “family first”. She had a zest for life and loved to travel the world, oftentimes to exotic locations. She loved to play games, attend trivia night, and was active in various crafting groups such as rug hooking, quilting and crocheting. Lena spoke several languages and kept herself current on all things political and financial. She was determined to change the world and impressed upon everyone she knew the importance of following your dreams. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church, Eustis on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 11:00 AM. A Celebration of Life luncheon will be held at the church immediately following. Everyone is asked to please wear the color red as it was Lena’s favorite color. Private interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Eustis. In lieu of flowers, find a local family in need and donate your time, talents and treasures to them.
