Magdalene A. Long,74, of Spartanburg, South Carolina, entered her heavenly home after a life filled with faith,
love, and service on Friday, September 26, 2025.

Magdalene was born in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky on February 8 1951, a daughter of the late Earl and Christine Anderson.

Wife to Gary and mother to Eden were only two of the distinctions of life for such a strong woman. Magdalene had an enthusiasm for learning
and education and held a B.A. in English, Masters in Social Work, Masters in English, and Doctorate in Pastoral Counseling. Magdalene held positions as a Social Worker and Director of social work during her career, as well as being a professor of English Literature and Speech for Southern Wesleyan University LEAP program and Spartanburg Community College. Although Magdalene's career was outside of the church her first and lifelong ministry was to the local church as Pastor's wife. She held many roles in their ministry of 44 years, to include: teacher, children's leader, counselor and music leader. Her passion for the Lord and to share His word and love with those through genuine care leave a legacy of a race well ran for the glory of the Kingdom of God. Her quick wit, feisty personality, intelligence, discernment and strength will be greatly missed.

Magdalene is survived by her husband, Gary Long; daughter, Eden Hewitt; and son-in-law, Anthony Hewitt; grandson, Avery Hewitt all of Spartanburg, South Carolina. She is also survived by her brother, Willard Anderson; sister-in-law, Lois Anderson of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky;
sister, Dorene Fortney, and brother-in-law, Daniel Fortney of Anderson, South Carolina. Magdalene leaves behind a host
of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Wendell "Bobby" Anderson of Clay City, Kentucky.

The family will conduct her graveside service on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Good Shepherd Memorial Park, Boiling Springs, South Carolina.

They will gather at the home of Gary Long to honor and remember Magdalene's life.
