MAIRIAM WINN Obituary

MAIRIAM WINN 05/09/1939 - 10/29/2025 Richfield, Utah: Mairiam Millie Atkin Fordham Winn passed away peacefully at her home on October 29, 2025, at the age of 86, surrounded by her loving family in Richfield, UT. Mom was born May 9, 1939, in Salina, Utah, to Millie Atkin. Growing up, she attended the North Sevier schools. She married the love of her life, James R. Winn, on June 30, 1956, in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on March 24, 2001. They shared 49 wonderful years together until Dad's passing in 2006. Mom was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a quiet but unwavering testimony and served in many callings over the years, including Primary, Relief Society, and as a Den Mother. Her favorite calling was being a visiting teacher, where she formed many cherished friendships. She worked at the Pacific Trails sewing plant and continued her love of sewing throughout her life. Mom lovingly sewed clothes for her children and grandchildren, blessing dresses for each granddaughter and even created personalized porcelain dolls dressed in its own blessing dress to be gifted on baptism day. Mom also made pieced quilts for each of her nine grandchildren. She spent countless hours teaching them to sew and craft, making quilts, baby blankets, Halloween costumes, and even doll and Barbie clothes. After her children were grown, Mom worked at Knit-N-Craft, a job that perfectly matched all her talents and creative mind. This is the place where many lifelong friendships were made. She taught sewing classes, and she also enjoyed tole and oil painting, crocheting, and candy making. Mom had a love for bowling. She spent several days a week playing in local leagues. She even traveled with her teams to out-of-state tournaments, returning home proudly with several trophies. After Dad retired, they took up woodcutting and crafting, selling their creations at The Quilted Bear for many years. In her later years, Mom found joy in reading and working on puzzles. Mom took great pride in her home. Always keeping it updated and decorated for the holidays. There was always a remodel in the making. All who visited felt at home, so it was only natural that this is where many family gatherings took place over the years. That's when Mom was at her happiest. Mom is survived by her four children: Roger (Natalie), Brenda (Berg) Eyre, Jolene (Bob) Watts, and Mashell (Jeff) LaJeunesse. She leaves behind nine grandchildren: Jason (Kelsey) Winn, Travis (Kelsey) Winn, Ryan (Tiffany) Eyre, Kendra (Kevin) Blackwell, McKenzey Schafer, Joseph R. (Jourdan) Watts, Amber (Tory) Schoonmaker, Nicolas (Mackenzie) LaJeunesse, and Mairiam McKell LaJeunesse. She was blessed with 21 great-grandchildren: Jasey and Kaisley Winn, Michael (Shania) Eyre, Hannah & Jayden Eyre, Emsley, James, Brinley, Jacob & William Schafer, Karsyn Dalton, Kamryn & Kannon Watts, Brody, Brooklyn & Millie Schoonmaker, Brooks, Winnie, Mac, Nora & Georgia LaJeunesse. She is also survived by her brother Gene (Linda) Fordham, and many beloved brothers-and sisters-in-law, including Bill (Irene) Winn, Beverly Cooper, Rex Winn, Russell Winn, Susan (Sandy) Mulkey, Chad (Teresa) Winn, and Janis (Bryce) Nielson She is preceded in death by her loving husband, James R. Winn. Mother, Millie A. Colby, Infant Grandson Jeremy LaJeunesse, Brother David Fordham, and her stepfather, Lincoln Fordham. Yesterday

Mairiam was a dear friend to me when I was just about 5 years old and she was about 11. She will always be that dear friend who sat in an old car with me and my older brother during a thunderstorm, counting the seconds between seeing the lightning and hearing the thunderclap. She is one of God's true angels. Sincere condolences to her family!
