Major Kollin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Montgomery-Stryker Funeral Home on Mar. 30, 2026.
Major Kollin, 89, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2026, in Medicine Bow, Wyoming. Born on May 30, 1936, in Mansfield, Ohio, Major lived a life marked by creativity, resilience, and an unwavering sense of independence.

A proud graduate of Mansfield Senior High School in 1953, Major's journey began with a promising career in professional baseball. Straight out of high school, he joined the Detroit Tigers as a pitcher. Though his time on the mound was cut short after two years due to injury, Major's determination and resourcefulness led him to explore a variety of careers that showcased his versatility and drive. Over the years, he worked as an auctioneer, ran a construction business, and served as a physical plant manager for several large corporations before retiring to his beloved ranch in Wyoming.

Major's life was deeply enriched by his creative spirit. He had a remarkable talent for transforming metal and wood into both artistic and functional masterpieces. Whether crafting intricate works of art or building utilitarian items from spare parts, Major approached every project with ingenuity and passion. His creations were not only beautiful but also reflected his resourceful nature and love for challenges. Those who knew him admired his sincerity and generosity; he was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

In addition to his artistic pursuits, Major enjoyed hunting during his earlier years. His hobbies and interests were an extension of his independent character and deep connection to the world around him.

Major shared 36 cherished years with his partner, Nancy Seymour. He is also survived by his daughter Carla McLeod and her husband David McLeod of Woodinville, Washington; granddaughter Anna Blayden and her husband Brad of Monroe, Washington; grandson Alex McLeod and his wife Renate Schlate of Golden, Colorado; and stepson Robert Webster of Talmadge, Ohio. He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Faye Kollin of Mansfield, Ohio, as well as his brother Frank Kollin Jr. of Naples, Florida.

Major's legacy lives on through the lives he touched with his kindness and creativity. His memory will be treasured by those who knew him best.

May Major Kollin's life serve as an inspiration to embrace creativity, resourcefulness, and generosity in all that we do.
