Malcolm Cason Obituary

Visit the Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - East Louisville Chapel website to view the full obituary.

Malcolm Eric Cason, born on June 5, 1972, in Louisville, Kentucky, was a man whose spirit was as vast and vibrant as the landscapes he so loved to explore. On March 14, 2026, this true-blue, loyal friend left this world, leaving behind a tapestry of memories carefully woven with love, adventure, and unwavering support.

MEC. was a self-taught intellect whose curiosity knew no bounds. His ability to master any skill or knowledge he set his mind to was nothing short of remarkable. Even from an early age, it was clear that Eric was not one to be confined by convention. Music and traveling further enriched his soul, each note and new destination adding depth to his ever-growing story. From camping under starlit skies to the rush of snowboarding down crisp mountain slopes, from the meditative patience of fly fishing to the rhythmic cadence of mountain biking and skateboarding, his hobbies were a testament to a life fully lived.

Son to Vickie and Greg Ferren, MEC was the cherished son whose life was indelibly shaped by the sweet foundation of his parents’ marriage—a profound memory he held dear. Tragically, his biological father, Malcolm Wayne Cason, had already passed, along with beloved grandparents Victor and Dorothy Satterly, but MEC own family circle remained strong and ever present. He shared a close bond with his brother Joshua Ferren and sister-in-law Brittney, as well as his niece Abby Rey Ferren. Yet, beyond blood ties, MEC heart knew no limits—his friends were family, and family were forever friends.

MEC personality was a beacon of warmth. He never knew a stranger; every encounter was an opportunity to forge a genuine connection. A supportive anchor to those around him, MEC loyalty ran deep and true, a rare and precious gift. His presence was a steadying force, a quiet strength that lifted spirits and forged lifelong bonds.

The community will gather to honor and remember Malcolm Eric Cason with a visitation at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville, located at 235 Juneau Drive. The first visitation will be held on March 27, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, followed by a second visitation on March 28, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. His funeral service will commence immediately thereafter, at 10:00 AM on March 28, 2026. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

As we bid farewell to Malcolm, we reflect on a life that was not only lived but embraced with passion and generosity. He was a man whose heartbeat fiercely for those he loved, whose days were filled with the music of the natural world and laughter shared with dear friends. His legacy remains etched in the hearts of Vickie, Greg, Joshua, Brittney, Abby, and the host of loved ones he called family beyond kinship.

Malcolm Eric Cason may have left this earthly journey, but the beauty of his spirit—his tireless loyalty, his boundless curiosity, and his loving soul—will continue to echo in the mountains he climbed, the rivers he fished, and the countless hearts he touched. He was, and always will be, deeply missed yet forever remembered.
