Harry Peyton officiating. Interment will follow at Lewis White Cemetery in Monterey with a Fly Over being performed by his fellow pilot buddies, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home. Don was born on Friday, September 23, 1949 in Ferriday, LA and gained his Heavenly wings and flew to his eternal home on Monday, February 24, 2025. Don was a man of many talents: smart, witty, and a true comedian at heart. Above all, he was a devoted man of faith, deeply committed to his Lord and to his community. As a long-time member of the Old Monterey Christian Church, the oldest church in the parish, Don's love for God shaped everything he did. His humor and kind spirit made him a beloved figure among all who knew him.
His love for planes, cars, trains, trucks, motorcycles, ATV's, and jeeps was just another expression of his playful spirit. Don followed in his father's footsteps with a lifelong passion for aviation. He studied the history of his Father's seventy WWII flight missions. This prompted him to build a scale model of one of his Father's B26 palnes that had exact detailed decals of it's insignia. Don not only enjoyed flying but also took joy in aerial photography. His love for aviation extended beyond work, as he also served as a board member of the Vidalia Airport
A member of the Black River Heritage, Don was dedicated to researching his Cross family genealogy as well as the history of Monterey and the parish. He was always the go-to person for historical insights or flying lessons, generously sharing his knowledge with others. Don had a special way of guiding young adults, offering both flying lessons and life advice, leaving a lasting impact on many lives.
Don's hobbies were diverse. He rescued English Bulldogs and Australian Heelers from Texas, raised horses, goats, and cows, and even tried his hand at beekeeping. He also enjoyed carving spoons and building model airplanes. His love for toys-planes, cars, motorcycles, side-by-sides-was just another expression of his playful spirit.
Don loved his family above all, cherishing gatherings full of food, fun, and laughter. On the 24th, Don took his final flight, gaining his wings and joining God. Though he's no longer with us, his legacy of laughter, love, and devotion will never be forgotten. Don will always be remembered as a man who lived life to the fullest, a loving soul who touched the lives of everyone he met, and for doing it his way. Fly high, Don.
He is reunited with his parents, Malcolm Donovan Enlow, Sr. and Joyce Rogers Enlow.
Those left behind to cherish Don's memories are his sister, Brenda Jones; niece, Anna Stubblefield & her husband Will; great-nephew, Jack Stubblefield all of Chattanooga, TN; cousins, Jim "Peanut" Enlow, Ethel Lambright, Ramee Thompson, Dolly Simpson, Brad Adams, Jason Enlow, and Mike Enlow; beloved dog, Ojeah; his pilot buddies he flew with and those he mentored; as well as a host of cousins, family, and friends.
Those honoring Don as pallbearers will be Brad Adams, Jason Enlow, Mike Enlow, Steven Simpson, Greg Thompson, J.C. Thompson, and Logan Enlow.
Honorary pallbearers will be his church family, pilot buddies, and motorcycle riding buddies.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations can be made to Old Monterey Christian Church or the Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue (http://dfwbulldogrescue.org) in memory of Mr. Don.
