Malcolm Paul Ruby

Malcolm "Mac" P. Ruby, 97, of Hot Springs Village passed away on Monday, December 19, 2011 at a local hospital. Mac was born May 08, 1914 in Centerville, Indiana. He graduated from Earlham College in 1935 and was later inducted into the Earlham Athletic Hall of Fame. He married Betty Abel in 1938 and they celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary together. Mac was a teacher and a coach for 42 years at Fountain City (35-37), Centerville (37-43), and Crown Point, Indiana (43-77). He taught chemistry and biology and coached basketball, football, track and field, and golf. Mac and Betty retired to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas in 1977 where they enjoyed bowling, golf, bridge and social activities with family and friends. They were active in the church and were part of the "Firehouse Gang" that helped form the Village United Methodist Church. Malcolm was a good father, friend and mentor. He leaves daughters, Nancy Ruby of Joliet, IL; Deborah (Leo) Eisenhutt of Alma, WI; Kathy (Don) Lamb of Little Rock, AR; grandsons, Leo and James Eisenhutt; great-grandchildren: Ben, Sam, Katelyn, and Zach Eisenhutt. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Grace (Stevens) Ruby; brothers, Melville and James; wife Betty in 2010. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
