Malcolm James Smith, more affectionately known as “Mac,” a cherished member of his family and a devoted servant to his community, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2026, at the age of 80.  Born on January 1, 1946, Malcolm was a kind soul who dedicated much of his life to service and compassion.

Malcolm's career was marked by his role as a clerk for the Social Security Administration, where he served with diligence and care, always prioritizing the needs of those he assisted.  His commitment to helping others extended beyond his professional life; as a devout Christian, he lived his faith through acts of kindness and support for those around him.

A proud veteran, Malcolm was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.  His military service not only shaped his character but also deepened his appreciation for life and its blessings.  Following his time in service, he carried the values of integrity and hard work into every endeavor.

In addition to his professional and military accomplishments, Malcolm possessed a rich and vibrant personality.  He was an avid reader, often found with his Bible, finding solace and guidance within its pages.  His artistic talents brought beauty into the lives of those around him, capturing moments and memories with his creative expressions.

Malcolm is survived by his beloved brother, Gary Smith, and dear sister-in-law, Nadine Smith.  He took great pride in his role as an uncle to his cherished nieces, Marybeth Foster and Julie Larkin, who will carry forward his legacy of love and kindness.  Also left to remember him are his multiple cousins in Australia, who fondly recall the joyous memories shared with Malcolm.

He was predeceased by his loving parents, Peggy and Martin Smith, who instilled in him values that shaped his life.

A graveside service will be held in his honor on January 30, 2026, at Glen Haven Memorial Park in Glen Burnie, Maryland, where family and friends will gather to pay their respects to a man whose life was a testament to love, hard work, and unwavering faith.

As we remember Malcolm James Smith, we celebrate a life well-lived and the indelible mark he left on all those who had the privilege to know him.  His spirit will continue to inspire and guide us as we cherish his memory in our hearts.
