Malinda De Wit
Eddyville. Malinda Jean De Wit, 77, of Eddyville, passed away peacefully, on Monday, November 10, 2025, surrounded by her loving family, at MHP Serenity Hospice House. She was born at home on March 30, 1948, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the daughter of Daniel and Bonnie (Jordan) Beadle. She attended Oskaloosa schools. She met her future husband Bob De Wit at the skating rink in Pella. They were united in marriage on April 2, 1966, at her parents' home. To this union, 2 stunningly beautiful and delightful children were born. A few years after Bob's passing on September 20, 2001, she met her longtime partner, Doc Mc Dounough. They shared many happy years together doing some of their favorite activities like running to the casinos and dancing the night away.
Malinda was a loving stay at home mother for many years, cooking delicious full course meals nightly, including desserts. She eventually went to work for the Oskaloosa school food system program for many years, where she helped manage the kitchen and Junior High School.
Malinda often showed her love for friends and family through her cooking, including treats like her hamburger bean dip and homemade noodles. She loved spending time with her family at their place on the Des Moines river, where many happy hours were spent mushroom hunting with her brothers, sister and nephew Jason, fishing, hanging out on one of the sand bars, and spending time around the campfire. Malinda loved music and it was something she shared with everyone in her life. Malinda's greatest joy though, had to be her grandchildren and great grandchildren. There was nothing she wouldn't do for them like having homemade cookies ready for them after school on days she had to pick them up or running them through Mc Donald's drive through. And the great grandchildren were spoiled even worse. She extended this love and caring to her nephews and nieces who were very special to her. Malinda shared a very special and close bond with her mother Bonnie, they were not just mother and daughter, they were best friends. It was rare to see one without the other.
She is survived by her children Daniel De Wit (Stephanie Cloke) of Goodwater, Alabama and Sonja (Josh) Icenbice of What Cheer, grandchildren Robbie Anderson, Melanie (Josh) De Kleine and great grandchildren Josiah and James De Kleine. Long time partner Donald Doc Mc Dounough. Mother Bonnie Beadle. Brothers Tony (Eileen) Beadle, Mike (Carol) Beadle, and sister Kathy (Jerry) Fowler all of Oskaloosa.
She was preceded in death by her dad Dan Beadle and husband, Bob De Wit.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 14, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Reverend Andy Watts officiating. Burial will be in the Beacon Cemetery west of Beacon. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will begin Thursday, November 13, 2025, after 12 noon in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel from 5-7 Thursday evening to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to MHP Hospice Serenity House.
