Manfred Lumpp Obituary

Manfred 'Fred' Lumpp, loving father and grandfather

OLEAN - Manfred "Fred" Lumpp, formerly of South 16th Street, Olean, passed away peacefully Friday (Dec. 19, 2025) at Cuba Skilled Nursing Facility, surrounded by care and compassion. Fred leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and devotion to his family.

Fred was born Dec. 20, 1931, in Karlsruhe, Germany, and was the son of Markus and Gisela Reitberger Lumpp. On Nov. 30, 1963, in New York City, he married the love of his life, Eileen F. Casey. Together they shared a beautiful life and 56 years of marriage until her passing on Aug. 28, 2020. Their bond was one of deep love, partnership and countless cherished memories.

Fred's journey brought him from Germany to Canada, where he proudly served in the Canadian navy for five years. He later moved to New York City, where fate led him to meet Eileen.

While living in NYC, Fred worked as a deliveryman for Crown Milk. After moving to Friendship with his family, he was employed by AVX until his retirement in 1992. Never one to sit still, Fred continued working as a driver for Enterprise and later as a school bus driver, roles that reflected his dependable nature.

Fred found joy in life's simple pleasures. He enjoyed going to Off Track Betting, taking long walks with his dog and watching soccer, especially meaningful to him as he had also played the sport in his younger years.

He was deeply proud of his German heritage and carried that pride with him throughout his life. Known for his quick wit and wonderful sense of humor, Fred had a special gift for making people laugh. He treasured traveling with his beloved wife, creating memories that remained close to his heart.

Fred was a devoted member of St. Joseph's Catholic Maronite Church.

Fred is survived by his three daughters, Hilda K. (Terry Payne) McElwee of Cuba, Gisela (Mike) Fleming of Friendship and Maureena (Chris) Chamberlain of Belmont. He was a proud grandfather to Kyle, Kelpy, Lindsey, Erin and Emily; and a loving great-grandfather to Lukas, Callum, Dalton and Ava. He is also survived by his brother, Rolf Scheuenmann of Germany; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Fred was predeceased by his wife, Eileen; his sisters, Ruth and Brunhilda; and his nephew, Rolf Scheuenmann Jr.

Friends will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026, at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 2026, at St. Joseph's Maronite Rite Catholic Church, 1102 Walnut St., Olean. Father Charles VanHeusen will officiate. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Cattaraugus County SPCA, 2944 Route 16, Olean, NY 14760.

Online condolences may be made at www.letromcintoshspinkfuneralhome.com.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff on the third floor of Cuba Memorial Hospital for the compassion, care and love they showed Fred and his family during his final days.
