Mantha Tyson Collins of Madison, GA, a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on February 8, 2025, at the age of 85. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Robert Ronald Collins, and her parents, Lee Roy and Margaret Moore Tyson. A devout Christian, Mantha was dedicated to her faith. She found strength and comfort in reading the Bible. Her family was her greatest treasure, and she poured her love into every moment spent with them. Whether she was sewing dresses for her daughters, or enjoying a meal out with her loved ones. Mantha’s warmth and devotion were always evident.
In her quieter moments, Mantha enjoyed tending her garden, cross-stitching, completing crossword puzzles, and working on jigsaw puzzles, reflecting her sharp mind and attention to detail. She was known for being unique, direct, loving, and loyal, qualities that made her a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.
Mantha is survived by her children, Dr. Janina C. Dallas (Craig) of Augusta, GA, Wade D. Collins of Greensboro, GA, Laura K. Nelms of Oxford, GA, and Sarah E. Collins of Social Circle, GA; grandson, Justin L. Nelms of Rutledge, GA; great-grandchildren, Rylee K. Nelms and Jackson L. Nelms; and her brother, William Byron Tyson of Vidalia, GA
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Covington, GA 30014. The visitation will be followed by a graveside service at 2:00 PM at Lawnwood Memorial Park.
