Manuel Cabral Obituary Manuel C. Cabral, lovingly known as "Carlos," age 66, of
Wilmington, MA, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Carlos was born on September 15, 1959, in the Azores, Portugal, the cherished son of the late Jose and Maria (Estrella) Cabral. After losing his mother at a young age, he was lovingly raised by his sister Frenclina, who cared for him as her own. Carlos grew up and was educated in the Azores, later serving honorably in the military.
In 1982, Carlos met the love of his life, Maria Eduarda Andrade, and the couple married in 1983. Shortly after, Carlos immigrated to the United States to build a new life for his bride. Together, they settled in Cambridge, MA, where they raised their three beautiful children. In 2005, Carlos and Maria moved to Wilmington, where they continued to make cherished memories surrounded by family and friends.
Carlos was a devoted husband, a proud and loving father, and an adoring "Vuvu" to his grandchildren. He treasured time spent with his family especially cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events and found great joy simply being surrounded by those he loved.
From a young age, Carlos developed a passion for fishing. What began as a childhood pastime at age nine became a lifelong career. He mastered every aspect of the fishing industry from catching to cutting, processing, and packing; earning the respect and admiration of those who worked alongside him.
In his spare time, Carlos loved watching his grandchildren, tending to his garden, making his homemade wine, caring for his grapevines, and cheering on his favorite Portuguese soccer team, Porto. He will be remembered as a kind, hardworking, and generous man who was always willing to lend a helping hand. Carlos's love for his family and friends was unwavering, and his memory will forever live on in their hearts.
Carlos was the beloved husband of Maria E. (Andrade) Cabral; the devoted father of Judy Roque and her husband Shawn of Wilmington, the late Jeremy Cabral and his wife Crystal Cabral of Tewksbury, and the late Steven Cabral. He was the loving "Vuvu" of Jacob Roque, Matthew Roque, Greyson Roque, Jeremy Cabral Jr., Santino Cabral, and his "bonus grandchild" Ericka L'Esperance. Carlos was the dear brother of Mary Joe of Portugal and was predeceased by his siblings Frenclina, Jose, Mary Lou, Edward, and Maria. He was also the best friend and brother-in-law of Joe Andrade.
Carlos is survived by many cherished brothers- and sisters-in-law, godchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly.
