Manuel Fula Obituary
"Pai" was born on November 12, 1930 in Pico, Azores, Portugal. He hailed from a long line of fishermen and whalers. Pai brought his passion for the trade to the United States in 1968, when he immigrated to Somerville, Massachusetts with his wife Maria Olivia (deceased) and their only son, Arthur, "Artur" Fula.
In Somerville, Pai built a long, happy life for his family, making wine in his spare time and inviting enthusiastic crowds to their home, through which Pai's wine will always be remembered. Pai spent his summers traveling back to Pico, always bringing with him a great deal of clothing and gifts for his relatives and local townspeople. Pai made his final, fruitful trip to The Azores in 2019, where he continues to be recognized for his good will. Pai spent his last great years in his Somerville home under the care of his son, Arthur, and Arty's long-time partner, Darlene-Jihan Gaven. Pai's legacy is preserved through his boundless generosity and love for others.
Pai is survived by his last living brother, Gabriel Fula who lives in Faial, Azores, Portugal as well as his grandkids he loved so dearly: Katrina and her husband, Tim White, Kari and her husband Eric Demoura, Kelly, and Jared. Pai is also survived by his wonderful great grandkids, Roman Fula and Zara White; and honorary grandchildren Jared Gaven and Charles Undag.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation from the Keefe Funeral Home on Thursday, November 2nd from 4pm-7pm. A Funeral Service will be held from the Funeral Home on Friday, November 3rd at 11am. Services will conclude with burial at St. Paul Cemetery, Arlington.
