Manuel C. Garza Jr. peacefully passed away on October 29, 2025, at the age of 87.
Manuel C. Garza Jr. was born on February 10, 1938, to parents Manuel G. Garza and Guadalupe C. Garza in Taft, Texas.
He graduated from Taft High School in Taft, Texas. He worked at Shoppers World where he met his future wife, Juanita Elizalde. They became husband and wife on January 10, 1960. His jobs transferred him to McAllen, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, Baton Rouge, LA, Beaumont and Brownsville. He was a manager for Kmart, Levine's and he eventually retired from Hancock Fabrics at the age of 62. He was a loving man with a great sense of humor. He showed us through his example how to treat people and how to be a productive member of society.
Manuel C. Garza Jr. is preceded in death by his first wife of 38 years, Juanita Garza; his daughter, Lydia Salazar; his parents, Manuel G. Garza and Guadalupe C. Garza; his sisters, Amy Vasquez, Janie Soliz, Paula Medina, and Angie Gutierrez; his grandchildren, Manuel C. Garza IV and Loreana Rangel.
Manuel C. Garza Jr. is survived by his wife, Oralia Garza; his daughters, Leticia Garza, Robbie Mendez, Amy Flores and Lorrie Garza; his sons, Manuel Garza III and David Garza; his sisters, Connie Rickman, Martha Ortiz, and Amy Garza; and numerous beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
