Manuel L. Lopez

I was randomly googling the names of friends from my university days and was shocked by this obituary on my old friend Manuel Lopez. Manny used to rent a small room at our apartment and we attended the same university in the Philippines. He was a hardworking young man with a great sense of humour and didn't surprise me that much to read that he had carved himself an excellent career in the US.
It's just too sad that his life would be senselessly cut short in that infamous and tragic 911 event. While its 15 years too late, I'd like to convey my heartfelt condolences goes to his wife Rosalia and their two children and to the rest of his family.

A few years ago we planted American flags for every 911 victim in Forest Park in St. Louis. I was honored to take Mr Lopez's flag home. I fly your flag every year. You seem to have been a great man to your family and many other people. Even though I never met you, every year until I die I will pray for you and your family.

My mother in law's birthday is September 12. So we try to visit her grave around that time. One year when we were visiting her grave on September 11th a man approached us and asked us for pen. We gave it to him and he walked over to a grave and wrote a note. Later when he left our curiosity got the better of us and we went over to see who was buried there (we did not read the note). It was MR. Lopez's grave. So every year when we visit my mother in laws grave we pay a visit to Mr. Lopez to pay our respects. We also paid our respects to him at the WTC memorial. I hope he is resting well. He deserves it.

I recently visited the memorial museum in NY and this man's face and name have really stuck in my mind. Although I did not know him, I'm sure he was very loved. My thoughts are with all your family. God Bless xx

God Bless you, Mr. Lopez. We've never met, but you've seemed to be a kind, gracious and loving man- your infectious smile sort of reminds me of my father's. May you smile forever in heaven. Condolences and love to your family and friends until we meet one day.

As part of a service remember 911 in our community of Danville Illinois, there were glow sticks passed out with the names of all the victims and we had a moment of silence and prayer for those lost. I was honored to have the name of Manuel L. Lopez on my glow stick and I will remember him especially from now on. I pray that the family finds comfort in your memories of the man who, from what I read, was an outstanding husband, father and citizen.

I did not know Manuel Lopez before 9/11/01, but almost a year after this tragedy on 8/26/02 I lost my son Julian in a tragic accident. During the graveside service, the funeral director who was talking to the gatherers kept referring to our family as the "Lopez's" and we couldn't figure out why. At a later visit to the Arlington cemetery at Kearny I happened to look over and see that my son lays directly behind Mr. Lopez. I immediately said a prayer, asking that when we are all reunited someday, Mr. Lopez hold my sons hand until we can hold our baby in our arms again. I sincerely offer my deepest condolences to the Lopez family and pray that you will find some peace in this lifetime knowing that Mr. Lopez is at peace with the Lord and soon we will all be able to see our loved ones again.

I worked with Manny in the tax department for many years. I was the state & local tax supervisor and he was the federal tax supervisor.

We where very close friends. We would constantly tease each other. I would sometimes drive him home after we worked a Saturday at

Marsh & Mclennan. We used to call each other "pal".

He loved his electronic toys and was equally passionate about buying designer clothes and DVD's Particularly, Tommy Hilfiger clothes.

I attended his memorial service.

There was not a dry eye in the catering hall where the memorial service was held. My only regret was not attending his funeral service when they found his remains. We always talked about what we were going to do when we retire. I will always miss him, he was like a brother to me.

I came to know about Manny from his nephew, Raul Lopez Lozano, who is my brother in Christ. As far as I could recall, Brod Raul just kept on shaking his head with tears in his eyes when he learned of the 9/11 tragic incident. Manny is now in the hands of God. To the family of Manny, just keep your faith in God.

May God bless you and watch over the family and friends that you left behind on that horrible day last September. Rest in his loving peace forever more.

i'm so sorry to have found mandy was in the attack on the world trade building. mandy was a sweet man . he will be missed my alot of people. god bless and my heart goes out to his family. i knew mandy in denver colorado in the army. very sweet man.

Ofelia and I are sorry to hear the lose of Manuel. Words can not describe how we feel or how to comfort this void in all of our hearts and souls. But with time there will be healing for everybody. Believing he is in Heaven with God for the wonderful man that he is. Our hearts are with your whole family. God bless you all.
