Manuel C. Pimentel, age 83, passed away the morning of Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Philip Hulitar Hope Health Center in Providence. He was the beloved husband of Virginia P. (DaCamara) Pimentel to whom he shared 58 years of marriage. Born in São Miguel, Portugal, he was one of six children born to the late Manuel C. Pimentel and Maria DeCarmo Castanho.
Born and raised in the village of Maia, São Miguel, Portugal, Manuel immigrated to the United States in 1968 at the age of 26. After settling here, he encouraged four of his siblings to follow him and he helped each of them find housing and employment and getting settled on their own. Although, he made his home here and raised his family in the Ocean State, he loved his home country of Portugal and looked forward to returning often to visit family with his wife. He was a dedicated and hard worker and was employed by American Insulated Wire for over 40 years, retiring as a Foreman and Supervisor. When he was not working, he enjoyed fishing, cooking, singing and playing the Portuguese guitar. He passed on his love of music to his entire family; son Victor plays the clarinet and his grandsons play the piano and Portuguese guitar. Above all else, Manuel was most happy when he had his family gathered together and he could entertain them with his music. His quick wit and outgoing personality will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
A man of deep faith, Manuel was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of The Rosary Catholic Church where he volunteered with various committees and had served as a Board Member. He was also a longtime member of the Holy Ghost Society.
Manuel was the devoted father of Sandra M. Rebello (husband, Mario) and Victor M. Pimentel (wife, Susana) and the cherished Vavô of Katarina Rebello, Alex Rebello, Sarah Pimentel and Andrew Pimentel. He was the brother of Fatima Pimentel and the late José Pimentel and his wife, Conceição Pimentel, João Pimentel and his wife, Emilia Pimentel, Conceição DaSilva and Exaltina Cordeiro and her husband, David. He was also the brother-in-law of João DaSilva, Epirito Santo Carreiro and her husband José, Teresa Cabral and her late husband, Manuel Cabral, Susana Bicudo and her husband, Antonio, Emanuel Carreiro, and Helena Rainha and her husband, José.
His Funeral will be held on Monday, November 17, 2025, at 9am in Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in Our Lady of The Rosary Church, 21 Traverse St., Providence. Interment will immediately follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. Calling hours will be held Sunday, November 16, 2025, from 3-6pm in the Funeral Home.
