Maple Lee Melvin was born in Arkansas to the late Louis and Leola Allen. She was one of 18 children and later moved to Toledo, Ohio, where she was raised by William and Betty Allen.

Maple resieience and vibrant spirit shone brightly from a young age. He talent for art would later lead her to become a fabric designer lead her to become a fabric designer where she designed patterns for tableclothes. In addition to her artistic pursuits, she was an accomplished and competitive roller skater, winning numerous competitions and championships, a testament to her fierce determination and zest for life.

To those who knew Maple, often described her as ull of life, likening her to a Timex watch - able to take a licking and keep ticking. Her friends and family affectionately who knew her as "Sweet", a nick name that captured he loving and nurturing nature. Maple loving nothing more than spending time with her family and found peace and joy in fishing, a past time she enjoyed throughout her life.

Maple was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Beverly Allen, brothers and sisters, Ollie Mae Johnson, Jesse Allen, Bob Allen, Joe Lewis, Velma Allen, Willie Allen, Robert Allen and Johnny Mae Allen.

Her memory will live on the hearts of those who loved her, sons, Charles (Mary) Allen, Joe Melvin, Jr.;sisters, Doris King, Dorothy Peoples, Christine Allen and Rosie McGee; brother, David Allen and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Maple's vibrant spirit love for family and unwavering strength will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
