Mara Reasor McCoy

Mara Monique Joellen Reasor McCoy, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and true friend passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 in Austin, Texas. She was born in Marietta, Georgia in 1951 to William Joseph Reasor and Dorothy Dolores Eloise Dunn and moved at an early age to Tampa, Florida. Living there, Mara graduated from H.B. Plant High School in 1969 and was voted "best looking" her senior year. She was a glamorous woman of style, a fashionista and loved her high heels.

Mara was a teen of the 1960's, a voracious reader and enjoyed good debate. Most importantly, she was kind, compassionate, non-judgmental, loving and generous of heart and spirit to all. Her quick wit and sense of humor was enjoyed by everyone. Mara dearly loved her family and friends and in turn, they loved her. Her laughter and smile will never be forgotten.

She arrived in Austin in 1979 and met her husband, Tim, on New Year's Eve that year. Their love was immediate and they married a few months later in 1980. Mara's most important role in life was being a wife and mother to her children and their friends loved her as a second mother. She loved cooking and everyone especially enjoyed her beef tenderloin.

Mara is survived by her devoted husband Tim McCoy, son Aaron McCoy and his wife Wendy, sons Shea McCoy and Ryder McCoy. She is also survived by her brothers Billy Joe Reasor and Bennett Lee Reasor in Florida, sister Taina and her husband Bob Wilson in Oklahoma, sister-in-law Diane McCoy in Austin including many nephews and nieces. Mara will be forever missed by all who knew and loved her. She faded gold dust!
