Uecker-Witt Funeral HomeMarc S. Maga, 74, of Fond du Lac, went to join the great band in the sky on Thursday, September 18, 2025. He was born in Green Bay on February 1, 1951, and grew up in Hermansville, MI, where he was raised by his grandparents, John and Agnes Maga, and his aunts Marnie, Eva and Karen. As a Boy Scout, Marc saved the life of a drowning relative. He played on the Hermansville varsity basketball team in his freshman year. Marc was fortunate to be raised with his cousins as siblings. They include Kevin (Vicki) Farley, Patty (Terry) Bridges, Alan (Pam) Farley, Steve (Tammy) Farley, and Sharon (Steve) Becks.
Marc's lifelong love affair with music began with The Beatles, who sparked his passion and shaped his musical journey from an early age. As a young man, he played in several bands across Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, Wisconsin, and throughout the Midwest. Music remained a constant in his life, and over the years, he became one of the region’s most respected and recognizable musicians. He found joy performing at local venues and community events, sharing his talent with friends, neighbors, and fellow music lovers.
Marc was also a dedicated mentor, generously passing on his knowledge by teaching guitar to aspiring musicians of all ages. His musical legacy includes a wide range of bands and projects he helped create or contributed to—among them: Lectrik Mudd, Home Sweet, Brix Band, Plum Loco, Gangbusters, The One and Only Billy Shears Band, Freckles and the Hostages, The Reason, Domino, Casting Cleos, and most recently, Rumours. A self-proclaimed music snob, Marc had discerning taste and deep respect for the craft. His musical path brought him the honor of meeting and performing with several nationally known acts, including Kansas, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, the Marshall Tucker Band, Atlanta Rhythm Section, and Eric Burdon.
Marc had a deep passion for walleye fishing. If he wasn’t reeling them in on Lake Winnebago, he was heading north to chase even better catches. One of his favorite destinations was Red Lake in Ontario, Canada—home to some of the finest walleye fishing around. He made the journey every year for four decades without fail, always bringing along those he loved to share in the adventure. For those lucky enough to join him, it was an unforgettable experience—filled with incredible fishing and even better company. Annual fish fries with family and friends became a cherished tradition, celebrating the memories made on the water.
He also greatly enjoyed vacationing in Mexico and made several trips with Barb and close friends and family throughout the years.
Marc adored his Golden Retrievers, Chester and Hattie.
He loved Wisconsin sports and was never shy about sharing it. The Packers were his “church” on Sunday, and the Brewers broadcast was always on the radio in the boat, in the car, or on the lawn tractor.
Marc is survived by the love of his life and partner of 23 years, Barb Moser; his children, Beth (Brent) Kreissl, Michelle TeStroete, Jodi (Shawn) Daniels, Zachary Fischer Maga, Katie (Brad) Schumacher, and Barb's son, Ty Sharkey; grandchildren, Jessica Boerst, Sara TeStroete, Charles Kreissl, Andrew Kreissl, Henry Daniels, Ava Sharkey, Maggie Irish Fischer Maga, and Lily Irish Fischer Maga; stepfather, Albert “Hunce” Stanke; half-brother, Doug Stanke, and half-sisters Gloria Tucker, Kathleen West, and Carrie Wade; and aunt Karen (Ray) Lemley. Marc is further survived by many friends and relatives who loved and appreciated his talent and shared his love of music. Marc was preceded in death by his mother, Jessica Stanke, his eldest son, Kevin John Fischer Maga, aunt Eva (George) Farley, uncles Kenneth, Donald and John Maga, aunt Katharine (Marnie) Maga, and grandparents, John and Agnes Maga.
