Marc Alan Thurston, 61 of Midland, passed away unexpectedly on January 20, 2025. He was born on October 17, 1963, to Jerry and Lois (Wendt) Thurston in Midland, MI. Marc married the love of his life Judy Renae Thornton, on August 24th, 1985. They shared 39 loving years together.
A man with a deep love for the outdoors, he found joy in camping, kayaking, and skiing, especially during cherished trips taking the family to northern Michigan or out west. Those moments around the campfire and under the stars were when he was truly in his element.
Marc loved working on projects around the house and building lasting memories with his wife and son. One of his greatest joys was hearing the laughter of his granddaughter and finding ways to make her smile-an example of the warmth and love he brought to every relationship in his life. Known for his quick wit, candor, and humor, Marc touched the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
He dedicated over thirty years of hard work and loyalty to Washington Penn Plastics Company, earning the respect and friendship of his colleagues. Marc is survived by his wife; Judy Thornton-Thurston, son; Zach (Emma) Thurston and granddaughter Eleanor Thurston as well as his brother Greg Thurston and sister Teri (Thurston) Strasser.
He is preceded in death by his father Jerry Thurston and his mother Lois (Wendt) Thurston.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on January 25, 2025, at Midland Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Terry Turner officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 am until time of service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider giving a gift to mental health initiatives at the University of Notre Dame in his honor (giving.nd.edu/thurstonmemorial).
