He was born in Manchester on May 4, 1925, the son of Joseph and Alpheda (Beaulieu) Carrier. He was educated in the local parochial schools and attended Manchester High School Central prior to enlisting in the US Navy during WWII. He was proud to have served upon the USS Boston from 1943 to 1946.
He had been employed by Public Service of New Hampshire for 37 years and had reached the level of supervisor prior to retirement.
He enjoyed woodworking, the Boston Red Sox, the Patriots, and his friends at Cape Neddick Campground. He was a member of the American Legion, the V.F.W., and the East Side Club for many years. Above all else, his 13 grandchildren were the love of his life.
Marcel was a longtime communicant of St. Pius X Church.
Members of his family include his beloved wife of 53 years, Lucille (Sarette) Carrier of Manchester; four sons, Donald Carrier and his wife Carolyn of Concord, NH, Mark Carrier and his wife Diane of Manchester, Peter Carrier and his wife Danielle of Mason, NH, and Christopher Carrier and his wife Sara of Pembroke; one daughter, Linda Moody and her husband Frank of Manchester; thirteen grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Helen Carrier of Hampton. He was predeceased by his daughter Susan Carrier Croasdale, two brothers, Andrew and Roger Carrier, as well as two sisters, Dorothy Bilodeau and Adrian Blais.
A memorial Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 in St. Pius X Church.
Interment followed in the NH State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Concord Regional Visiting Nurses Hospice House, 250 Pleasant St, Concord, NH, 03301.
