Zap was one cool dude. At UMiami, Zap made friends with every type of person from all walks of life. Few people probably know that Zap had a passion for saving cats. Zap was uber friendly. A real mensch. Such a big loss for future UM students who Zap welcomed and helped with great dedication. Zap ... warp speed! Yer somewhere else now. Your legacy lives on in the thousands of students at UM that got to know you. #legend

I'm saddened to see that Zap passed away. I decided to Google him today as I was reminiscing about my UM days in the late 80s.
My work study job at UM was running the movies at the Union 3 nights a week so i got to know him well. Zap was a great guy. Always very friendly with all the students while working the desk at night.
Those were special times at the U with all the gang...Dan Westbrook, Clayton, Jody and Norman Moss, the gentle saxophone playing giant who passed away from cancer years ago way too young.
Thank you guys for all the good memories.
