Marcus Joseph Andrus

Funeral services will be held at a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church for Marcus Joseph Andrus, 79, who died at Lafayette General Medical Center Monday, June 12, 2006. Rev. O. Joseph Breaux, Pastor of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Maurice, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral service. Interment will take place in St. Alphonsus Mausoleum in Maurice. Mr. Andrus, a native of Vermilion Parish, had resided in Maurice, LA. He was the son of the late Isaac Andrus and the former Blanche Trahan. He retired from the Southern Pacific Railroad after over 25 years of service. After retiring Mr. Andrus spent most of his days fishing and enjoying the time he spent with his dogs. He was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church Community. Survivors include one sister, Inza Picard, of Maurice, LA, three foster sisters, Beverly Vincent, Katherine Fontenot, and Bobby Miller, two nephews, Jude Picard & wife Phyllis, Allen Picard & wife Stacey, and a great nephew and niece, whom he loved and considered to be his grandchildren, Taylor and Ali Picard. He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife Claudia Andrus. Pallbearers will be Jude Picard, Allen Picard, Shelton Andrus, Sidney Andrus, John Andrus, and Phillip Andrus. Honorary pallbearers will be C.J. Andrus, Harold Lachausee, and Taylor Picard. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The family requests that visiting hours be observed Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
