Marcus Orlando Jackson transitioned to heaven on Thursday, October 30, 2025. He was born April 5, 1965, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Curtis and June Jackson.
He graduated from Frayser High School, where he was a track and field champion, and after graduation, enlisted in the military, where he rose to the rank of Sergeant in the Army. He was a graduate of Oral Roberts University with a bachelor's in theology. Former prison ministry counselor and former manager and counselor of the Taylor House Violence Prevention Center. Founder and Director of Laborers' Academy & Ministry Inc., Christ-centered Values-based Non-profit.
Most importantly, Marcus was a soldier for Christ. His Laborers' Ministry was established to counsel and teach individuals how to navigate family violence by giving them hope through the knowledge of God's word and fostering a personal relationship with God.
He relentlessly labored and most often sacrificed his time and monetary resources to further the process of his ministry. In conversation, we would discuss whether this was the direction God wanted him to pursue.
Marcus would unapologetically say yes, without a doubt, that is what he was commissioned to do.
Such dedication to his calling was what I respected and admired about him. The peace and joy of seeing him in his calling assured me God was with him.
Well done, warrior of God!! He is well pleased, and I know without a doubt he has an executive position for you in heaven. We will deeply miss his calls - always checking on the family, asking about the nieces' and nephews' journeys in life, sharing his wisdom, and offering guidance whenever possible. Love you always!!!!
Marcus leaves his father, Curtis Jackson Jr., to cherish his memories; his sister, Melody Gregory; brother, Daryl Jackson (Shonna Jackson); sister, Pamela Jackson; nephews, Tristan Starks, Keegan White, and Rashad Jackson; and nieces, Mayana White and Makaili Gregory. Also, other cherished family and friends.
Marcus was predeceased by his dear mother, June Gregory Jackson and his grandmother, Harriet Carrington.
The family will receive friends Saturday, November 15, 2025 from 2:00pm-4:00pm at RS Lewis & Sons 3651 Austin Peay Hwy, Memphis, TN 38128.
Internment will be Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at 10:00am in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill Irene Rd, Memphis, TN 38125
