MARCUS PRITCHETT Obituary

MARCUS ROY PRITCHETT Marcus Roy Pritchett entered Heaven to the open arms of Jesus on December 9, 2025. He was born on March 22, 1945 to Roy and Madyelene Blacketer Pritchett in McKinney, TX. His parents lived in Sherman, TX which is where Marcus & his twin brother, Jerry grew up. Marcus is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Mae & Mark Blacketer, May Etta & and Sam Houston Pritchett, aunt/uncle Nell & Don Blacketer, mother-in-law/father in-law, Katherine & Everett Denison, sister-in-law/brother-in-law, Donnie & Mike Denison, brother-in-law Tim Denison. On July 4, 1987, he married Cindy Denison of Lewisville, TX on the boat of their good friends, Sue & Don Ray, in Port O'Connor, TX. They made their home in Georgetown, TX followed by Texarkana, TX, & Flower Mound, TX, before settling in Denton, TX. Marcus started his employment at 13 years old as a newspaper carrier for the Sherman Democrat. It was during this time he earned the Eagle Scout Award as well as the God & Country Award. Next, he moved up in employment as a stocker then checker for A&P Grocery in Sherman, TX. Once in college, he worked for IBM making punch cards. After college, he was employed by GTE (General Telephone & Electronics) and worked there for 31 years, where he retired in 1999. His career with GTE started in Sales as a Communications Consultant in the DFW area. On his first day, he met his future best friend, Andy Brown. They have been best buds since. After the consulting job, he became service manager in several towns such as Carrollton, TX, DFW Airport, Hobbs, NM, Georgetown, TX, Texarkana, TX, ending in Irving, TX. Marcus is survived by his wife, Cindy Denison Pritchett of Lewisville, TX, daughter Marci Pritchett of Little Elm, TX, twin brother, Jerry Pritchett of Pottsville, PA, best friend, Andy Brown of Coppell, TX as well as many nieces, nephews, other family & friends. During high school, he was a member of the Mu Alpha Theta, National Mathematics Honor Society. After graduating from Sherman High School in 1963, Marcus attended Austin College in Sherman 1963-1964. From there he attended East Texas State University, now East Texas A&M University 1965-1967 at which time he graduated with a BBA degree. At ETSU, he was a member of Beta Delta Chapter of Alpha Phi Omega, a national service fraternity. Marcus enjoyed RV traveling over the last 20 years. He & Cindy took their RV cross country as well as many trips in their car with their beloved & spoiled Miniature Schnauzers. He particularly loved the Rocky Mountains, visiting his brother & family as well as listening to country music and the guitar-playing & singer, Billy Strings. Most people knew him as an exceptional auto mechanic with a full brain of knowledge of motor vehicles of all kinds. His love was his restored 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air and his 2003 Mustang Cobra known as SKREMR. Many hours were spent with Cindy on the racetrack as well as the drag strip. He enjoyed sharing that experience with her and used her often as his "gofer". Another love of his was his long-term relationship with coworkers at GTE, particularly using many long words making people run to the dictionary (especially Cindy). He enjoyed having friendships with people in each different town he served. Reminiscing was always fun and therapeutic after he retired. A Celebration of Life for Marcus will take place on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Denton Bible Church, 2300 E. University Dr., in Denton, TX.
