Sherman, TX. Once in college, he worked for IBM making punch cards. After college, he was employed by GTE (General Telephone & Electronics) and worked there for 31 years, where he retired in 1999. His career with GTE started in Sales as a Communications Consultant in the DFW area. On his first day, he met his future best friend, Andy Brown. They have been best buds since. After the consulting job, he became service manager in several towns such as Carrollton, TX, DFW Airport, Hobbs, NM,

At ETSU, he was a member of Beta Delta Chapter of Alpha Phi Omega, a national service fraternity.
Marcus enjoyed RV traveling over the last 20 years. He & Cindy took their RV cross country as well as many trips in their car with their beloved & spoiled Miniature Schnauzers. He particularly loved the Rocky Mountains, visiting his brother & family as well as listening to country music and the guitar-playing & singer, Billy Strings. Most people knew him as an exceptional auto mechanic with a full brain of knowledge of motor vehicles of all kinds. His love was his restored 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air and his 2003 Mustang Cobra known as SKREMR. Many hours were spent with Cindy on the racetrack as well as the drag strip. He enjoyed sharing that experience with her and used her often as his "gofer".
Another love of his was his long-term relationship with coworkers at GTE, particularly using many long words making people run to the dictionary (especially Cindy). He enjoyed having friendships with people in each different town he served. Reminiscing was always fun and therapeutic after he retired.
