Marcy Cortes Obituary
Marcy is also survived by her three children: Bernal Cortes of Cambridge, Massachusetts; Tobias Cortes of South Bend, Indiana; and Emilia Cortes of South Bend, Indiana. She is further survived by her brothers, Mark Dryden of California and Chad Dryden of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Marcy found joy in life's quieter moments. She loved reading-especially fiction-taking long walks, hiking, and spending time with her beloved cat, Fyo. A memorial visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on February 13, 2026, at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, South Bend, Indiana. A memorial service will follow at 1:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Center for Hospice Care, Mishawaka, Indiana.

Marcy was a delight to work with, always helpful and hard working. We talked a lot about books we were reading, good books we had already read. She was always genuinely interested in finding ways to help the adolescent population she served. I greatly admired her courage and bravery in a difficult profession, always gracing those around her with quiet strength and unfailing resilience. One of the last times I saw her she smiled warmly and greeted me, that is how I will always remember her.
