(Margaret) Jean Paton Baughman passed away on November 7, 2025, in Vermilion, OH. She was born on December 19, 1926, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, graduating from Shenango High School. Her parents were the late Margaret Elinor (Hensley) and John Esler Paton of New Castle.
Margaret began Cadet Nursing at the New Castle Jameson Hospital transferring to Akron People's Hospital (now Akron General) and earning the R. N. in 1948. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Tech Ed. She worked in People's Hospital, the Copley Medical Group, and lastly taught at Children's Hospital students doing their pediatric session to earn bachelor’s degrees.
She took several Bible classes at the short-lived Akron Bible School. In 1948, she married Howard Walter Baughman who died in 2012 in the Locust Street C&MA Church (now Chapel Hill Alliance). For many years, she served in Lawndale Church of The Christian and Missionary Church in Kenmore (the Baughman family church) (now King's Way Church) serving as deaconess, with her husband, youth advisor, and sang in a ladies' trio.
When her children were in Norton High School band, she worked in the football concession stands for the band boosters.
In 1960, the Baughman’s purchased a cottage at Beulah Beach, Vermilion, Ohio, and the Alliance campgrounds. She had the lease for sixty-five years, longer than any other person at Beulah Beach. She and her husband traveled the country and Europe and enjoyed that lifestyle. She enjoyed knitting and reading.
Margaret leaves son, Walter David of Beulah Beach, daughter and son-in-law, Margaret Ann and James Richard Rogers of Goodyear Heights. granddaughter and grandson-in-law Carrie Ann and Trevor Krontz, great-grandson, Roland James, sister The Rev. Dr. Ann Paton of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, and brother and sister-in-law John Glenn and Joan Thompson Paton of Los Angeles.
Calling hours will be from 1:30PM to 2PM and a funeral service will be at held at 2PM on Friday, November 14, 2025, at the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221.
