Margaret Butler Bishop, age 88, peacefully transitioned from her earthly life to eternal life with Jesus Christ on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at her home in Benson, NC.
A Celebration of her Life will be held 3:00PM-Sunday, January 15, 2023, at Rose Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson, NC. Burial will follow in the Benson Family Cemetery, Four Oaks, NC.
She was born April 16, 1934, to parents Victoria and Luther Price of Smithfield, NC. At age 2 she was adopted by Ellen and Herbert Benson of Benson, NC. Mrs. Bishop was preceded in death by both sets of parents; husbands, William Austin, Tommie Butler and W.P. Bishop, brothers; Cleon Benson, Vernon Benson, and Tommy Price, sister; Frances Braswell.
She is remembered for her funny stories, witty sayings, endurance, light heartiness, and love of cats. It was very important to her that her children knew about God, and she walked miles with them to attend church. Her hobbies included quilting, hand embroidery, and sewing. She enjoyed traveling and was always quick to tell folks that she was from Benson where they had “Mule Days.” Mrs. Bishop was a homemaker and retiree of Penn Compression Moulding, Inc. She will be deeply missed until we meet again.
Surviving includes her six children, LaVerne Miller (Jim), Dale Austin (Gail), Faye Curtis, Jerry Austin (Sheryl), Sylvia Craig (Stu), Janice LaRue Lacy (Frank); thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren, who affectionately call her Granny B or Granny Biscuit, and sister, Dorothy Tart.
The family will receive friends from 1:45 PM – 2:45PM Sunday, January 15, 2023, prior to the service at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Benson, NC.
The family wishes to thank 3 HC Home Health and Hospice for all their loving care during this time.
Prayers are appreciated during this time.
