Margaret Jean Sherrod Brisco

MARGARET SHERROD BRISCO was born in Jackson, Mississippi on December 23, 1929, to Floyd and Hannah Sherrod. She transitioned to her Heavenly Father on November 17, 2025. She was the youngest and last living of her siblings. Margaret was raised and educated in Jackson, Mississippi. She met and married Gladdis C. Brisco, in which six children were born: Ozella, Gladdis, Leslie, Sandra, Andra, and Lori. The family left Jackson and moved to New Orleans in 1958. Margaret was a homemaker for the majority of her children's lives. She had her way of caring and nurturing her family. She enjoyed cooking and baking to feed six children and her desserts were always creative and delicious. She enjoyed spending time planning family events and was always along for the fun and excitement of Mardi Gras, Jazz Fest, Easter Egg Hunts, and family vacations in Florida. Her birthday, being two days before Christmas, was reflected in the joy on her face when it came to seeing the reactions of her children and grandchildren when they were all together. Margaret's memory will be forever cherished by her children: Ozella Gill, Leslie Brisco (Cynthia), Sandra Brisco, Andra Brisco, Sr., Lori Lion. Ten grandchildren: Quay Brisco, Keanon Brisco, Shana Brisco, Alani Brisco, Andra Brisco, Jr (Ashley), Iman Gill, Leslie Worm (Danielle), Christopher Brisco, Leland Brisco, and Cameron Lion. Eight Grear Grandchildren: Kail, Jaylen, General, Neilani, Emerie, Nola, Andra III, and Layla. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents: Floyd and Hannah Sherrod, her husband of 49 years Gladdis C Brisco, Sr., son Gladdis C Brisco, Jr., sis; Mary Francis Sherrod, brothers; Floyd Sherrod, Jr., Danny Sherrod and George Sherrod. She will be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces/nephews, great-grand nieces/nephews, and other family and friends. Family and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, for 1:00 p.m. at The Boyd Family Funeral Home, 5001 Chef Menteur Hwy., New Orleans, LA 70126.
