MARGARET DEAL Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hamilton Funeral Homes-Akkerman Chapel in Mora from Feb. 23 to Feb. 24, 2026.
Margaret "Marge" Lela Deal, of Ogilvie, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Rusheba Station Assisted Living in Rush City. She was 88 years old.
Marge was born on November 1, 1937, in Minneapolis to Carl Jr. and Alberta (Wendorff) Krebs. In 1943, the family moved to McGrath, where Marge grew up and attended school, graduating in 1955. She began her working years at Midland National Bank, where she was employed for three years.
In 1957, Marge was united in marriage to Klaas Johnson at her childhood church in Giese. Together they built a life rooted in faith, family, and hard work, first making their home in Henriette. They were blessed with three children-Todd, Renee, and Deborah-who were the pride and joy of her life. In 1969, the family moved to the farm in Ogilvie, where Marge later became a familiar and caring presence in the kitchen at Ogilvie School. For 26 years, she lovingly prepared meals and formed countless connections with students and staff. Sadly, Klaas lost his battle with cancer in October of 1985, a loss that was deeply felt by Marge and their entire family.
On February 16, 1991, Marge found love again and married Paul Deal at St. Paul Lutheran Church, the church that had long been her spiritual home.
Marge lived a life defined by quiet service and steadfast faith. A devoted member of St. Paul Lutheran Church since 1969, she shared her faith by teaching Sunday school and serving faithfully in LWML and Minnesota North LWML for many years. She also dedicated a decade to serving as a Girl Scout leader and volunteered at the local food shelf, always ready to lend a helping hand where it was needed. In her free time, Marge found joy in life's simple pleasures-tending her garden, knitting thoughtful gifts, reading a good book, working on crossword puzzles, and taking part in community events that brought friends and neighbors together.
Marge was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Klaas Johnson; her second husband, Paul Deal; her sisters, Martha Mueller and Joanne (Vern) Pautsch.
She leaves behind a legacy of love in her children, Todd (Cathy) Johnson, Renee (Jon) Johnson, and Deborah (Damon) Meiners; Paul's sons, David (Koni) Deal and Keith Deal; her cherished grandchildren, Jessica Steffen, Mark (Becky) Steffen, Elizabeth Meiners, Isaiah Meiners, Jennifer (Brad) Hauer, and Nicole Deal (McKale Nygaard); and her treasured great-grandchildren, Obie, Raven, Beckam, Henrik, and Maddyn. She is also survived by her sister, Carlene (Albert) Boettcher; brother-in-law, Harold Mueller; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and neighbors.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Rusheba Station Assisted Living and St. Croix Hospice for their kindness, dignity, and unwavering care.
Marge will be remembered for her warm smile, steady faith, and the loving way she cared for her family and community. Her gentle spirit and servant's heart will be deeply missed
