Margaret Ann Deruso was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, on June 19, 1945 to Marshall J. Deruso and Pauline Veal Deruso.
She attended Washington High School where she was a majorette. In the 70's, Margaret and some of her best friends organized a Women's Social Club called "The Emeralds" Their vision was to empower, enlighten and give back to their community. They did that in many ways by holding social events and providing scholarships to local students. Margaret worked at S & M Bargain Store for many years and after moving on from retail, she became a licensed cosmetologist. She had an amazing gift of creating beautiful things as a stylist and interior design. Margaret moved to Denver, Colorado and continued working as a hair stylist until she was employed by Denver Public Schools. She retired from Denver Public Schools and returned to Lake Charles. Margaret had the biggest Heart, a calming presence and her beautiful smile would illuminate any room she entered. She found so much pleasure in cooking, baking listening to music, collecting bottles of wine and entertaining family and friends.
Preceding her in death, her parents, Marshall J. Deruso and Pauline Veal Deruso. Her brothers, Robert James Deruso, Lawrence Deruso, Alvin Deruso, and Kenneth John Deruso. Her sons, Terrance D. Garrison and Tyson K. Garrison.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her sons, Darren R. Williams and Derrick L. Deruso of Lake Charles, La. Her sisters, Mary Deruso Washington of Lake Charles, La. and Lorraine (Johnny lll) Letman of Beaumont, Tx. Her brother, Alton (Gwendolyn) Deruso of Palmdale, CA. Her granddaughter, Wynter Garrison of Arizona. Her Aunts, Gloria Ann Viney and Audrey Mae Brown of Welsh, La. and a host of relatives and friends.
