Margaret Clay Gibson, a beloved figure whose sweetness and kindness touched the hearts of many, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on July 23, 2025. Born on June 18, 1939, in Powell County, Kentucky, she lived a life that embodied everything good in the world.
Margaret was known for her nurturing spirit and unwavering support, which earned her the deep affection of her family and friends. She took great pride in her role as a mother, and her greatest accomplishment was undoubtedly her family. She is survived by her daughters, Gladys Hutcheon and Opal Martin, and her son, Roy "Joey" Martin. Margaret also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will cherish her memory forever and a host of other family members and friends who were fortunate enough to know her.
Throughout her life, Margaret enjoyed simple pleasures. She found joy in coloring and engaging in word search puzzles, activities that reflected her playful nature and her dedication to finding beauty and simplicity in everyday life.
Margaret is now reunited in eternal rest with her cherished loved ones who have passed before her, including her mother, Stella Holder (nee Hon), her father, Alex Holder, her son, Ricky Martin, and her siblings: sisters Bessie Caudill and Nanny Mullins, and brothers John Holder and Walter "Newt" Holder. Their bonds, once interwoven on Earth, are now beautifully rekindled in the tranquility of peace.
