Margaret Cecile Grund, age 86, of Winona died Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at her home, surrounded by her family.
Margaret was born May 6, 1939 in Olivia, MN, the daughter of Joseph and Theadora (Pastoors) Kopel, one of 12 children. She was united in marriage to Roger Grund November 21, 1959. The couple moved to Winona in 1971, where they owned and operated Norge Village Laundromat and Car Wash. She worked as a nurse at St. Anne Extended Health Care. She also owned a yarn shop, and taught basket weaving, quilting, and knitting. She was well known in the Winona area for her basket weaving and quilting skills. She started a basket weaving and quilting retreat which drew people from all over the country to Winona. Family was the most important part of her life, and she loved going to all sporting events and programs for her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.
She is survived by her children: Nancy (Al) Schneider, Amy (Bob) Dreas, Jeff (Kris) Grund, and Jay (Laura) Grund; grandchildren: Andy (Shari) Schneider, Jordan (Alissa) Schneider, Hannah (Neal) Reykdal, Mollie (Sam) Schellinger, Britta (Sam) Johnson, Jack Dreas, Marshall Stevens, Joe, and Annie Grund, Emily Grund; great-grandchildren: Carter, Tyson, and Eisley Schneider, Owen, and Clara Reykdal, Teddy, Rosie, and Ingrid Schellinger, Ada, and Graham Johnson; siblings: Jim, JoAnne, Carole, and Jerry.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roger; siblings: Al, Tom, Greg, Daniel, Doug, Bernie, and MaryLou.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Shari Schneider for the care given over the last 2 years.
A memorial service will be held at Hoff Celebration of Life Center - Winona on Monday, October 27, 2025 at 11:00am with Rev. Russell Scepaniak officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 9:30am - 11:00am at the funeral home.
