Margaret Ellen Higgins, age 89, of Ballard, passed away December 3, 2025, at the Uintah Basin Sr. Villa.
She was born November 24, 1936, in Kent, England, to John and Margaret Sipple Goldfinch. She was never allowed to date until she was 18 years old and her first boyfriend, Richard Milton Higgins, Jr., who was stationed with the US Air Force in England, swept her off her feet. They were married June 4, 1956, and after 62 years, he died June 17, 2018.
Margaret and Richard moved to the United States and spent most of their lives in Arizona. She worked as a cook for over 20 years at the La Petite Academy Daycare in Tucson. Everything she did was for her children. The family traveled, had big Christmases and big birthdays! She was also very involved in her Baptist Church: she was on the board, sang in the church choir, anything she could do with the church, she did. When she moved to Roosevelt a few years ago, she joined with the Faith Baptist church and helped there as often as possible – usually being the only person in the “choir.” She had a fondness for singing.
Margaret is survived by her children, Michael Higgins, Debra Zimmerman, and Lee Higgins; 8 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren with one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, and a brother, Ted Goldfinch.
Per her wishes, she was cremated and will one day be united with her husband back in Arizona.
