Margaret S. Killen, 86, of Rossville passed away Saturday, January 25, 2025. She was a loving wife, mom, mamaw, great mamaw, sister, teacher, friend, and mentor. A native of Scott County, Virginia, she strived as a teacher to not only educate students, but to mentor others to understand and build a strong life using their uniqueness in the world. She believed in teaching outside the classroom walls and loved educating students using outdoor educational experiences, like the Camp Tremont trips. She graduated Valedictorian from Cleveland High School, earned an AA from Hiwassee College, a BS degree from Tennessee Wesleyan College, and a master's degree from West Georgia College. She taught in the educational system for 35 years and after retiring volunteered for many more. She was a lifetime resident of Chattanooga Valley, and a member of the Flintstone United Methodist. She was a leader and volunteer in several organizations. She was preceded in death by her parents William E. and Edna L. Bellamy, husband, Bob G. Killen, brother, William (Bill) Bellamy, sister, Betty Eachen and husband Bill, brother-in-law, Bill Killen, and sister-in-law Carol Mills.
Survivors include her children Tony (Roxane) Killen, Susan O'Shields, Steve (Sandi) Killen, Pam Killen, grandchildren, Miranda, Autumn, Logan, Sydney, Clay, Madison, Samuel, and Will, great-grandchildren, Zoey, August, Wales, Hayden, Leia, and David, sisters-in-law, Ann Bellamy, Gency Hayes, and Phyllis Schrader, along with several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend special thanks to lifelong friend Nancy Guerrero, Rosewood staff, and Tapestry Hospice for the special caring/healthcare in the final months of her life. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 PM Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at Lane Funeral Home and Crematory South Crest Chapel.
Funeral services will be held 11:30 AM Thursday, January 30, 2025 in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jacqueline Davis-Gines officiating.
Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
