Margaret Mazza Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Klein Funeral Home - Champions on Mar. 11, 2026.
Margaret Mary Mazza entered eternal rest on March 9, 2026, surrounded by her loving husband, children, and grandchildren. Margaret was born on June 3, 1942, in Far Rockaway, Long Island, New York. She grew up in Inwood, New York with her parents Anna and Joseph Ricioppo, and siblings Mary Anne and Joseph. Margaret attended Our Lady of Good Counsel School and Stella Maris Catholic High School, graduating in June 1960.

Margaret met the love of her life Frank Mazza during her last year of high school. Frank's cousin, Johanna Mazza, introduced them, and, as they say, the rest is history. Margaret and Frank dated for four years and were married on June 6, 1964.

Margaret was employed by the New York Telephone Company. She also loved playing the piano at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church for Mass and various services. In October 1965, Margaret and Frank's first son was born, beginning her true vocation of being a mother. Frank and Margaret's children, Frank, Michael, Joan, John, and Jennifer, were her pride and joy. Margaret was able to stay at home while raising her kids. She provided a stable and loving home for her children and was always ready to be the taxi for the various activities and the after-school snack provider.

In February 1997, Margaret and Frank began their next adventure, welcoming 18 beautiful grandchildren. Her greatest joy was having the entire family of 30 over to celebrate holidays, birthdays and other family occasions.

Margaret loved the Lord and had a very special devotion to the Blessed Mother. Margaret's love for her husband, children, and grandchildren was a witness to her devotion to Mary's example of motherhood. Margaret was very active with the Prince of Peace Catholic Church Altar Guild, Funeral Ministry, and most notably was in charge of the Altar Purificator team for over 40 years. Out of love, Margaret grew the program and managed a team of over 50 members. Margaret and Frank served as the coordinators of the parish's Welcome Sunday for many years, shaping it into what it is today.

Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Anna Ricioppo, and her sister, Sr. Marcellus (Mary Anne) Ricioppo. Margaret is survived by her husband of 62 years, Frank Mazza. She is also survived by her children, Frank (Bridget) Mazza, Michael (Heather) Mazza, Joan (Dave) Heinrich, John (Denise) Mazza, Jennifer (Linh) Nguyen, by her grandchildren, Kaitlin, Allison, Michelle (Michael), Elena (Chanler), Erin, Peter, Claire, Ryan, Lidia, Mark, Teresa, Matthew, Emily, Nina, Haley, Stephen, Luke, and Andrea, as well as by her brother, Joseph (Pat) Ricioppo.

The Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 17, from 5:30-7 p.m., with a Rosary at 7:00p.m., at Klein Funeral Home, 16131 Champion Forest Dr., Klein, Texas 77379. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 18, at 10:30 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Community, 19222 Tomball Parkway, Houston, Texas 77070.

In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in memory of Margaret Mazza.

It´s been many, many years since I have been in touch with my cousin, Butch, but I am still just as saddened by the passing of Margaret, his wife. I was closer friends with her brother, Joe, but still remember seeing her from time to time as we were growing up. It was a golden time.
Your family will be in my prayers as you journey through this time of sadness. May God, in His mercy, bless you.
