Margaret Ann McCauley

Margaret Ann Purkey McCauley, 82, passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2025, in the United Hospital Center. She was the wife of Carroll R. McCauley, who passed away June 9, 2003.

Margaret was the daughter of Daniel and Georgia Purkey of Flemington. Her father died in 1964, and her mother in 2001. She was also preceded in death by her brother, James D. Purkey; 3 stepbrothers, Roland F. Purkey, Thomas G. Purkey, and William E. Hudkins; and a stepsister, Adorah Lea Purkey Riffle. She was the last sibling of the immediate family.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Magaret was a banker for many years, starting after high school and working for Empire National Bank, then onto One Valley, and on to BB & T when banks started merging. She started in bookkeeping and worked her way up to manager of one of the branches. She loved her customers and they seemed to love her. She always gave more than she ever asked of anyone. Margaret was a Baptist by faith.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, from 10 a.m – 12:30 pm, where services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow in the West Virginia National Cemetery.
