Margaret Meyer was born and raised in Butler, New Jersey. For more than twenty years, she managed an answering service company, overseeing a team of approximately twenty operators with skill and dedication.
A devoted Catholic, she was active in her church and served as a Den Mother for the Boy Scouts, supporting and guiding young members of her community.
Creativity was a lifelong passion for Margaret. She loved arts and crafts and, in her later years, became well known for the beautiful wreaths she designed, each one unique in color, style, and sentiment. She delighted in giving them to family, friends, and neighbors for every season and occasion.
Margaret was also an active volunteer with the Lions Club for several years in Toms River, New Jersey, where she was admired for her kindness, humor, and easygoing nature. She was a wonderful neighbor, a loyal friend, and a woman who found joy in helping others.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Meyer, who served in the Merchant Marines during World War II, and her son, Michael Meyer, who served in the United States Air Force. She is survived by her son, Joseph Edward Meyer, also a veteran of the United States Air Force, and her daughter-in-law, Pattie Meyer.
In her later years, Margaret continued her lifelong commitment to service through her volunteer work with The Drop Collaborative, a Tennessee-based nonprofit and designated TN Department of Education CTE Best Practice Model. The organization provides free access to their farmland, teaches sustainable agriculture to Unaka High School juniors and seniors, donates crops to local families in need, and mentors youth through hands-on agricultural education programs. Margaret contributed her time and creativity behind the scenes, including designing wreaths for children to take home during the nonprofit’s “Drop by the Farm” mentorship days, sharing a bit of her joy and artistry with every child she touched.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in any amount to www.dropcollaborative.com in Margaret’s honor. To commemorate her many years of support, a new section of The Drop Collaborative’s Stoney Creek Farm will be dedicated as “Margaret’s Garden.”
