Margaret Ann Montgomery Colbert, 78 of Shelby County KY passed away, July 13th, 2025 after a long battle with cancer.
Margaret was born and raised in Russell Springs, KY. She was a member of the Russell County Class of 1964. She was a Hairdresser for 50 years and considered her clients and co-workers family. She was a long-time member of the Hopewell Presbyterian Church where she was loved by many. Margaret was a collector of cookbooks, loved her dogs, and enjoyed collecting heirloom flowers. She was an Auxiliary member of VFW 1170, and GI JOE Post 244 J-TOWN.
She is survived by her Husband of 38 years, Hugh M. Colbert Sr.; her children Angela Rogers of Mt Washington, KY, Rachel Hayes of Brandenburg, KY , Hugh “Morgan” Colbert JR. (Kelli) of Shelby Co. and Adam Rogers of Louisville KY. Margaret’s Grandchildren included Amy Walls (Joe), Justin Oller (Madeline), Christopher Hayes (Marissa), Kayla Sayenga (Sean), Jonathan Oller (Allison), Jacob Oller, Hannah Colbert & Samuel Colbert. She was also blessed with 16 Great-grandchildren and two beloved sisters Vera “Gee-Gee” Tompkins, and Theresa Montgomery. She is preceded in death by her parents Omra David & Ovalene Montgomery, Son in Law Tracy Hayes, and Grandson Charles “Talton” Mullins III.
Visitation will take place, Tuesday, July 22, 4:00pm to 8:00pm, at Hopewell Presbyterian Church, 13721 New Hopewell Rd, Louisville, KY 40299, a brief visitation will be held at the church, Wednesday, July 23, from 9:30am to 10:30am, with a service to follow 10:30am. Burial will take place at Cave Hill cemetery, 701 Baxter Ave, Louisville, KY 40204, 1:00pm.
