Margaret Ann Cronin Newcomer-Bubash, 86, of Lemont Furnace, known lovingly as Peggy and "Mema," passed away in her home, on September 22, 2025, after a courageous journey with dementia. A devoted mother, sister, and friend, Peggy will be remembered for the warmth she brought to every room and the way she made sure you would listen to one of her stories whenever she began to talk.
Born on July 15, 1939, in Lemont Furnace, Peggy grew up surrounded by family and faith. She was the cherished daughter of Michael and Mary Little Cronin. Peggy later became the heart of a large, close-knit family of her own. She married Edgar "Ed" Newcomer, and they were blessed with five children. Peggy, later went on and married Paul Bubash, and together they built a life marked by kindness, generosity, and adventure. They especially loved traveling to Iowa to visit family.
Peggy found joy in the everyday. She delighted in listening to music, especially the familiar voice of Daniel O'Donnell, whose songs often filled her home. She loved to work-always for the chance to socialize-and she never missed an opportunity to cook for family gatherings and celebrations.
Shopping trips with her sister Marylou became a family legend. If anyone else tagged along, they'd joke about whether they'd ever make it home. Peggy and Marylou could turn an errand into an odyssey of smiles and surprises.
Deeply rooted in her community, Peggy was passionate about her church and held a special affection for Father Anthony. She gave generously of her time, including service with the local fire department's neighborhood watch, where she looked out for her neighbors with the same care she showed her family. To know Peggy was to feel seen, included, and loved; she had a gift for making everyone feel like family.
Peggy is survived by her children-Brenda, Bob, Ed, Joann, and Susan (Andy); grandchildren, Alesia(Jerry), Stacey, Mark, Brandon "BB", Lucas(Kayla) and Sara; great grandchildren, Gage, Lilly(Brant), John "JB" (Becca), Ian, Kameron "Kam", Jeremiah "JR", and Jozie, who carry forward her legacy of love and resilience. She is also survived by her sister, Marylou; and her brother, Donald "Louie". She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul; her friend, Ed; her parents, Mike and Mary; five brothers; Ray, John, Mike, Jerry, and Jim; two sisters; Evelyn, and Katherine; a son-in-law, Mark; and a daughter-in-law, Deb. To her family and the many friends who knew her, she will always be Peggy, Mema, and the storyteller whose kindness touched every life she encountered.
Visitation for Margaret will be held at the Stephen R. Haky Funeral, 603 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext., Uniontown, PA 15401 on Tuesday, September 30th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A blessing service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 1st at 11 AM. Entombment is in Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Amedisys and Hospice nurses and all the caregivers from Voice for Independence for their exceptional care. Their compassion and dedication brought comfort and dignity to Peggy and to all who loved her.
In honor of Peggy's life, may we remember to look out for one another, share a good story, and make time for the simple joys-music, family, and the long way home with someone you love.
