Margaret Odom was born on June 15, 1942, and departed for a better life on July 6, 2024, at the age of 82. She grew up in Point, Louisiana, then West Monroe. Margaret met her husband, Leon “Curly” Odom in high school and they were married for 47 years before he passed away in 2007. During their marriage, they lived in Vicksburg, MS, for many years before returning to West Monroe. Margaret worked in the Parks and Recreation Departments in Vicksburg, West Monroe, and retired from the City of Monroe Parks and Recreation Department. After she retired, there was a void in the Goodfellows organization, City of Monroe Half Marathon, and the softball tournaments she put on.
Margaret was an avid LSU fan but would also cheer for Alabama to support Curly’s love for them. She also loved to fish for bream at their fishing camp at Woolen Lake never caring how big or how small they were. She was very proud of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She attended many of their activities through the years.
Margaret is preceded in death by her mother, Ezelle Bottoms; father, Travis Bottoms; her husband, Leon Odom; grandson, Christopher Dillingham; and great granddaughter, Ayslee Dillingham.
She is survived by her three children, Joey Odom and wife, Lydia, Sonja Dillingham and fiancé, Lance Meador, and Felicia Hamby and husband, Al; her grandchildren, Daniel (Kayla) Odom, Blake Odom, Austin (Chelsea) Dillingham, Autumn (Tony) Dillingham, Samantha (Michael) Welch, and Dalton (Ashton) Hamby, and 15 great-grandchildren.
A memorial visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA.
