Margaret Owens, 88, of Columbus, Ohio passed away peacefully surrounded by her beloved family on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.
Margaret was born July 4, 1936 in Covington, Georgia to Zeddie and Odessa (Roseberry) Hendrix. She came to Columbus, Ohio in 1952 and graduated from Central High school. She then went to work for Marzetti’s restaurant in the baked goods department. She earned a certificate in business from Bliss College and went on to work for the State of Ohio. Margaret happily retired from the State of Ohio after working for 27 years as a data entry clerk. Margaret married Earnest Owens and they had two children, Cassandra and Colossah José. She loved going to church and spending time with her family.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Zeddie and Odessa Hendrix, loving husband Earnest Owens, sisters Ozell Johnson, Dorothy Devoe, brother Zeddie Hendrix Jr.
Margaret will be deeply missed by her children Cassandra (Grell) Gumbs, Colossah José (Corinna) Owens; grandchildren Shawnte (Nikita) Mitchell, Sheraul Gumbs, Wesley Owens, Whitney (Perry) Dupree, Jasmine Owens, Kenya Owens, Darius Owens; and six wonderful great-grandchildren Aaliyah Brown, Devon Mitchell, Laurynn Mitchell, Priya Dupree, Willow Dupree, Perry Dupree Jr. and Xavian Owens; brother James (Genia) Hendrix, sisters Mary Frances Ackey, Betty Alexander, Gloria (James) Wallace.
Visitation Monday March 10th from 10-11 a.m. at Newcomer NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin Granville Rd. Memorial services Monday, March 10th at 11-12 p.m. at the funeral home. James Grayson officiating.
