Margaret B. Pleasance

Margaret Ann "Peg" (Barclay) Pleasance, 89, of Greenville, Delaware, died on April 2, 2017. Peg was born in Alliance, Ohio to the late Clyde and Alice "Aileen" (Moore) Barclay. She graduated from Goshen High School in Damascus, Ohio and then moved to Cleveland, where she met her husband, Charles "Charlie" Pleasance. They married on October 24, 1953 in Sebring, Ohio. Together, they had three daughters and lived in Ohio, Virginia, Illinois, Tennessee, Florida and Delaware. Throughout her life, Peg enjoyed cooking for family and friends and amassed a large collection of cookbooks. She was happiest in the kitchen and loved to try out new recipes. As a young woman, she was well-known for her white cake which was a favorite at her church bake sales. Later, her quest for the perfect meatloaf became an endearing part of family lore. She was an avid reader and traveled the world extensively with her husband. While living in Naples, Florida, she spent many years as an active member of The Naples Players Theatre Guild, The Naples Woman's Club, The Naples Garden Club and Welcome to Florida. Peg is survived by her husband of 63 years, Charlie; children Barbara (Enrique) Zelaya, Penny (Robert E. Ewers, Jr.) Pleasance, Mary Jane (Peter) Smith; grandchildren Henry, Lauren, Kevin, Glenn, and Cameron; great grandson Noah; and brother James Barclay. A memorial service will be held at Lakewood Park Cemetery in Rocky River, Ohio with a private interment. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Peg Pleasance to either of the following: The Naples Players, 701 5th Ave. S., Naples, FL 34102 or The Neighborhood Health Clinic, 121 Goodlette Road North, Naples, FL 34102. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staffs of Stonegates Health Center, Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care and Home Instead Senior Care for providing comfort to Peg in her final days.
