Margaret Lou (Brown) Schneider, 91, of Indianapolis passed away on October 31, 2023. She was born in Indianapolis on July 6, 1932, to parents Ralph A. Brown and Mabel G. (Robards) Brown, who preceded her in death. Margaret graduated from Indiana University in 1954 with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She went on to work for Riley Children’s Hospital and was a member of Sigma Theta Tau-Nursing Honorary. She married the love of her life Paul Anthony “Tony” Schneider in 1954 as well. Together they were a perfect balance and brought out the best in each other. They enjoyed traveling all over the world; Margaret visited 6 out of 7 continents. Margaret was a master solitaire player constantly playing and perfecting her skills. She was a longtime collector of beanie babies, growing a large collection overtime. Margaret was an avid Arizona Diamond Back Fan from the moment she witnessed the team’s first ever win. She also was a skilled seamstress and in earlier years, she enjoyed sewing beautiful creations for her daughters and patching knee holes for her sons. She had a creative eye, and most times didn’t even need to use patterns to create. Margaret had a daily tradition of having a cocktail hour with Paul with her feet in the pool and a pool skimmer in hand. She loved animals often surrounding herself with the family pets she adored. She was a member of Geist Christian Church; you could always find her in her favorite pew. Margaret’s presence was gentle but known. She was a woman filled with love to give—especially to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Margaret will be missed by all the lives she touched.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Anthony “Tony” Schneider; and her brother, William “Bill” Brown.”
She is survived by her children, Paul Schneider, Lynn (Terry) Jacob, Debra (Jay) Davenport, and Bill (Joni) Schneider; her grandchildren, Anthony Jacob, Megan Hill, Chris Schneider, Jamie Baxter, Alison Penepacker, and Jessica Schneider; and her greatgrandchildren, Anderson, Hank, Alex, Annie, Joseph, and Lyndon.
A visitation will be held on Monday, November 6, 2023, from 11AM-1PM at Flanner Buchanan—Washington Park East. A funeral service will begin at 1PM. Margaret will be laid to rest in Washington Park East Cemetery.
