Margaret Marion "Maggie" Shiplett, 93, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025. Maggie was born in Washington, PA, on July 31, 1932, the daughter of Robert McKelvie and Helen Yuille Wotherspoon. She attended Bethlehem Center High School and went on to graduate from Columbia Nursing School. She dedicated her career to caring for others as both an ER nurse and a private practice nurse for many years. On June 10, 1955, she married the love of her life, William "Bill" Shiplett. This past June, they joyfully celebrated their seventieth wedding anniversary. Maggie devoted much of her time and energy to her community, volunteering tirelessly with the New Carrollton Boys and Girls Club and the Largo High School Booster Club. She had many passions in life, including golf, bridge, and cheering on her beloved Baltimore Orioles and Washington Redskins. Known for her legendary parties, Maggie loved entertaining family and friends. She was also a devoted member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Red Hat Society. Her irresistible personality, bright smile, and infectious laugh left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Maggie is survived by her husband, Bill, and their two sons, Mark Shiplett (Cindy) and Scott Shiplett (Theresa). She was the proud grandmother of four, Kyley Mitchell (David), Jenna Park (Max), Colton Clifton (Megan) and Matt Shiplett (Christina) and great-grandmother of Lucian and Caeden Mitchell, Silas Shiplett and Ellorie Park. Visitation will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 W. Central Ave., Davidsonville, MD, on September 23, 2025, at 11 a.m. A funeral reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
