Margaret Smotucha Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home on Dec. 4, 2025.
Margaret Anne (Rupert) Smotucha passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, after a six month illness on hospice on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. She was born on May 24, 1948, in Marinette to the late Mervin and Jean Rupert.
She grew up having her best friend, Liz Kotowske, still as a big part of her life until her passing. She graduated from Marinette High School in 1966, and married her husband, Allen Joseph Smotucha, in June of 1967. She worked at JC Penney, then later at Rennes West as a CNA for over 20 years.
She raised two children, Angela Spaude and Todd Smotucha, and also has two grandchildren, Cameron Spaude and Travis Spaude, who she loved spending time with. She loved to make the bus trips to the casino with friends, gardening, and was an avid Packer fan. She loved her fur friends, Maggie and Chloe, her cat Gracey and her son's dog Ava.
She went once a month to her class get togethers, which she enjoyed helping to plan. Her hospice care was set up by her family to give her the final wish to remain in her home.
She leaves behind her daughter, Angela Spaude (Taylor VanHecke); son, Todd Smotucha; grandsons, Cameron and Travis Spaude; one brother, Steve Rupert; sister-in-law, Donna Rupert; a nephew, John Rupert; uncle, Ken Rupert; many cousins; and best friend Liz Kotowske. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mervin and Jean Rupert; her husband, Allen Smotucha; as well as her mother and father-in-law, Lottie and Joseph Smotucha.
Visitation will be held at First United Methodist Church in Marinette on Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., with a service beginning at 1 p.m.
A special thank you to Bristol Hospice nurses, CNA Mariah and our special friends for all their love and help. Aurora, MaryLynn Theel, Kelly Wiedemeier, Vicky Walton, Lisa Reems, with all of you, her wishes to remain home were met.
