Margaret Doreen Southerland

Margaret Doreen Southerland, 93, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, October 27, 2025. Margaret, known to most as “Doreen”, was born March 12, 1932 in Pontiac, Michigan to the late Leonard F. and Cecil E. (Parker) Stem. On February 2, 1951 Doreen married and is survived by her husband Opie H. Southerland of 74 years.

Left behind to continue her legacy are her four children; Sue (Ed) Chappell of Auburn Hills, Michigan, Deanna (Steven) Barry of Phoenix, Arizona, Vicki (George) Rock of Fayetteville, Pennsylvania, Kevin (Mary) Southerland of Phoenix, Arizona; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

Over the years, she worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for several businesses, including those owned by her family. She expressed her creativity through crafts and decorating, and found great joy in her faith in Jesus Christ. Doreen also liked to travel with her husband, and making holidays special for her family and friends.

The family will gather for a private interment to celebrate Doreen’s life at a later date.
