Margaret Mary Spalluzzi

It is with deepest sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved "Nana." Margaret Mary Spalluzzi, of Kingston, MA, passed away on her 104th birthday on November 2, 2025.

Margaret was born on November 2, 1921 in Plymouth, MA, to the late Mary and Daniel Kaiser. She married Antone Spalluzzi on May 1, 1943 and lived in a home that Tony built in Kingston, MA. Together they had a daughter, Annette. Margaret and Tony were married before Tony was called to serve in the Navy during WWII where he was an electrician on The USS Currituck in the Pacific. They were married for 67 years before he died at the age of 93.

When the call came to support the war effort, Margaret and her friends signed up and were trained as welders, working at the Hingham Shipyard, welding ships. Margaret was an original "Rosie the Riveter" and has received a Congressional Medal for her contributions to the United States of America.

Later Margaret started a new career working at Plymouth Patuxet, first as a costumed interpreter and then as part of Visitor Services. Margaret worked at the Museum for 32 years and retired at the age of 80. It was said at the time of her retirement that she "dazzled visitors with her enthusiasm and good nature" and had "blessed this plantation with her gifts and talents."

Outside of work, Margaret was a life-long dancer. She danced weekly with her husband, Tony for most of their life together. Margaret loved to travel and cruise. She frequently took classes and worked on needlepoint and knitting. Margaret was an avid reader and loved to cook Italian cuisine. Margaret loved to take a walk everyday, and get together with friends to go out for lunch. She enjoyed spending time with her family and visiting the Kingston Senior Center.

Margaret was an active member of The Red Hat Society and a member of the Catholic Diocese at St. Joseph's in Kingston. Margaret will be fondly remembered for her boundless energy, kindness, and sense of humor which will be greatly missed.

Her memory will live in the hearts of her family; daughter Annette Madio (Bruce), and grandchildren Michael Madio, Jason Springer (Robin), Jacquelyn Stevens (Daryl), and 2 great-grandchildren Brayden and Noah.

I knew Margaret from the Kingston Senior Center. I took line dance lessons with her; she loved to dance. It was always a pleasure talking with her. My sister always said she was a spiffy dresser. I will miss her a lot.
