Margaret Stahlman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Suchon Funeral Home and Cremation Services - Plymouth on Mar. 31, 2026.
Margaret B. "Peg" Stahlman, age 88, of Sheboygan, passed away on Sunday morning (March 29) at Sheboygan Senior Community, with family by her side and gospel music ushering her home.

Peg was born on July 12, 1937 in Wilmington, DE, daughter of the late Edward and Lydia Talley Buffington.

She was brought up on a dairy farm (where her lifelong love of animals started) and graduated from Oxford High School in Oxford, PA.

On September 8, 1956, she married her high school sweetheart, James Richard "Jim" Stahlman, in Oxford, PA. The couple resided in Lincoln, NE while Jim was in the Air Force and had their first daughter. After the military, they resided in Oxford, PA and Wilmington, DE, where they added a son and daughter to their family. In 1967, they moved to Wauwatosa, WI, where they raised their family. Peg found joy as a homemaker and then later as a successful estate broker. Peg and Jim fell in love with the Plymouth, WI area and "retired" to the area in 1989. "Retirement" included opening and running a bed and breakfast for 15 years and starting the Plymouth Historical Society.

Peg was a member of First Congregational UCC church. She loved to sing and was in the choir at every church she belonged to, from childhood until her mid-80's. Peg loved to entertain – any excuse for a good get-together, good dessert, and the door was always open. She loved to sew and crochet in her free time. Peg crocheted an afghan for each of her children and grandchildren, and countless others who were loved as family. Peg loved to camp and travel. She visited all 50 States and 16 countries. Peg also loved a good, fierce card game as well as an easy going "pass the ace" game filled with laughter and hi-jinx.

Following Jim's death in 2009, Peg found love again and married William "Bill" Duehring in 2016. They enjoyed traveling and daily card games.

Survivors include: Daughter, Karen (Kevin) Loose of Plymouth, WI; Daughter-in-law, Cherie (Rick) Knapp of Pickerington, OH; Grandchildren: Ethan (Sarah) Stahlman of Pickerington, OH, Victoria (special friend, Charles) Loose of Antigo, WI, Evan (Bri) Stahlman of Aurora, IL, and Samantha (Nate) Fischer of Madison, WI; and Grandson, James "Jay" Anton of Madison, WI. She is also survived by: Nephew, Drew Stahlman; Niece, Jody Stahlman; Step Children; and so many other loved, close friends.

Peg was preceded in death by: Her Parents; Parents-in-law, Lincoln and Elizabeth Stahlman; Husband, James Richard Stahlman; Daughter, Kay Lynn Stahlman; Son, Kevin Edward Stahlman; and Husband William Duehring.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 11:00am at First Congregational UCC in Plymouth.

Visitation will take place at First Congregational UCC on Friday, April 3rd, from 4:00-6:00pm, and again on Saturday, April 4th, from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am. Rev. Kristal Klemme will officiate and she will be laid to rest with Jim at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Milwaukee.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested in Peg's name to First Congregational UCC or the Plymouth Historical Society.
